    10 Things A Mum Should Always Keep In Her Car...

    Don't leave home without them...

    Sometimes it's hard enough just to remember your sunglasses as you're running out the door. So for your own safety, make sure you give this list a run-through and always keep these essentials in your – car just in case!

    Essential 1.

    Roadworthy spare tyre – you never know when you're going to get a flattie.

    Essential 2.

    Jack and cross-shaft wrench (aka lug wrench) – it looks like a cross and has four sockets on it. You'll need this to change a tire.

    Essential 3.

    Water and/or radiator coolant.

    Essential 4.

    Jumper leads – to recharge a flat battery.

    Essential 5.

    A long, sturdy rope – to tow something or hold something in place.

    Essential 6.

    A torch with batteries that work!

    Essential 7.

    Mobile phone (always have one on you with a charged battery).

    Essential 8.

    A rag and some tissues – if you have to get dirty with the engine.

    Essential 9.

    Pen and paper – you never know when someone's going T-bone your car then try to get away (write down their licence plate number and get your insurance company to send them the bill!).

    Essential 10.

    Nappies, wipes, food and all your must-have baby gear; plus sunglasses (and some sunscreen while you're at it).

    And if you want to get really serious...

    Essential 11.

    Sleeping bag – if you get marooned somewhere overnight.

    Essential 12.

    Fire extinguisher – enough said.

    Essential 13.

    Food – for if you break down.

    Essential 14.

    Oil – you could run out!

    Essential 15.

    Anti-freeze spray – if the car's so cold and icy that it won't start.

    Essential 16.

    Tool kit – for obvious reasons.

    Essential 17.

    First Aid Kit (and a first aid book).
