In today’s day and age, fake people and faces are rife. Especially in Sydney. Double Bay, anyone? Am I wrong?
Then think how refreshing it would be to meet real, fake people in say, Darling Harbour. I’m talking wax dummies, dummy.
Madame Tussard’s has totally upped the anti this June holidays in its offering of real, wax celebrities with the inclusion of a Fashion Week exhibition. Yep, were talking every Aussie super model you’ve ever (literally) looked up to are included and on show, all ready and waiting to make you feel short, plump and inferior (or maybe that me). From Elle McPherson, Miranda Kerr and Megan Gale; they’re all there, standing tall, gorgeous and proportionally perfect in every way. #theyareblessed
Cosmopolitan, Napoleon Perdis, Wella Professionals and Myer all get in on the act too, allowing budding fashionistas to undergo a digital make-over thanks to Napoleon Perdis; try on the latest season trends thanks to Myer and then strut the catwalk and strike a pose next to their favourite Aussie super role model. Following their catwalk debut, the kids can then pose for their own Cosmopolitan cover shoot and then share their experience online, using the hashtag, #TussaudsFashion.
Still included in the waxy mix is everyone famous from Ian Thorpe (yes, his feet are big!), Curtis Stone (surprisingly not talking about Coles, for once), Michael Hutchence (he still rocks my socks), Delta Goodrem and everyone’s favourite egg-throwing bad boy, Justin Bieber. #Sigh.

Is it just me that loathes having to leave my favourite, trusty shampoo and conditioner in my shower when I pack my bag for the long-haul?
It’s bad enough I live with the fear of impending destination climate frizz fall-out, that I further have to worry about using the itty bitty token complimentary combined shampoo slash condition all-in-one (albeit it is free and I may just take it home for the kids, but I digress). Like, really, shampoo and conditioner at the same time? Is that even possible?
We can all rest easy in my find this week of travel sized Klorane shampoos and conditioners in all the best flavours, each one more than happy to accommodate both your hair and travel needs.
And when I say flavours, I mean these hair care saviors are good enough to eat, coming in scents such as Mango for dry locks, Pomegranate to preserve and lock-in colour and the staple, original and best, tried-and-tested Flax Fibre original for fine, fly-away hair. Fly away, see what I did there?
We have three packs of these mini gems to give away, RRP $7.95 each (total of each pack, $15.90). To win, pray-tell us here your hair sob story. You can even post an image of a bad hair day for extra points.

The ReFa Carat is a revolutionary new skincare tool that’s won a bunch of awards overseas and has just hit Aussie shores. And it’s kind of a big deal around here too.
The ReFa Carat is the perfect money and time saver for anyone who appreciates healthy, beautiful skin less the trips to the salon. The benefits replicate expensive, snooty facials otherwise only regularly available to the housewives of Sydney in Double Bay.
This nifty looking steel contraption may look like a dildo (there, we said it) but if you can get past the thought of rubbing it on your face, it will thank you for it. Used for just a few minutes every day, the ReFa CARAT will allow you to obtain the results of a professional spa treatment, DIY.
Specifically designed to mimic the kneading techniques of professional facialists and aestheticians, the ReFa allows you to easily achieve improved skin elasticity and tone, boosts moisture levels, improves blood circulation, tightens enlarged pores, improves skin texture and yes, reduces appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Best of all, you can also use it on your body to help shape and contour body lines. The Refa CARAT also entirely waterproof, so that you can use it in the shower safely all over your body.
The double spherical drainage rollers create multiple pressure spots and imitate the motions of a lymphatic drainage facial massage by firmly pulling up and gently releasing the skin to eliminate toxins and excess fluids.
The platinum-coated rollers also convert light from the solar panel generating a micro-current that helps tone facial muscles gently and gradually from deep within the skin’s dermis; resulting in firmer, more sculpted facial contours.
The ReFa CARATs solar powered micro currents are produced entirely from solar energy. This means you can take ReFa CARAT with you anywhere and never have to replace batteries or even plug it in to a charge outlet.
The small solar panel located on the top of the roller handle absorbs sunlight or indoor light converting it into a low level current emitted through the rollers directly to your skin.
The ReFa CARAT was made to last with the entire surface of the rollers platinum coated to be both acid and heat resistant in order to protect your skin. It can be used not only on your face but also all over your body including your thighs, target cellulite in the same manner as the lymphatic massage.
The ReFa CARAT is RRP $349.00 and available online at www.wcosmetics.com.au or at W Cosmetics stores in George Street, Sydney, Westfield Hurstville or the Macquarie Centre in North Ryde.
To win, tell us below why you’d love a ReFa CARAT.
Unfortunately, dark spots don’t just happen on the moon. Dark spots – aka sunspots – can occur on the skin of your face, neck, arms and the back of your hands and are caused by direct, prolonged exposure to the sun’s ultraviolet (UV) rays. And the bad news is, the older you get, the more sun exposure and sadly – more sunspots.
Many Mums are worried about all those unknown, sneaky, nasty chemicals in their skin products. And with good reason – your skin is literally absorbing whatever you slather onto it, so you want it to be good for you, no?
So when we heard about SuperCharged foodie, natural health advocate, nutritionist, whole food chef and author of six best-selling books Lee Holmes had released a skin product, we knew it would be good enough to eat. Or at least good for you. Lee has always advocated nature over chemicals and processed ingredients in her recipes and we’re happy to report her new SuperCharged Earth Mask and Scrub is no different – when it comes to her skin, Lee only uses ingredients straight from the earth. Literally.
Lee created her new Earth Mask by combining minerals and clays from pure sources, free of man-made contaminants. She discovered silica-rich minerals worked best to keep her skin cleansed, soft and full of life.
Lee’s ideal combination of skin-care is a blend of highest grade Diatomaceous Earth from the USA and Lightning Ridge Volcamin. It works as both a face mask and gentle scrub – as a mask, just add water to a tbsp. and apply evenly and use weekly. As a scrub, work into a paste with your finger and apply using circular motions and use two to three times a week.
The all natural, organic, straight from the earth mud formula in SuperCharged Earth Mask and Scrub has a bunch of benefits including softening and tightening the skin for a more youthful appearance, enhancing blood circulation for cell regeneration, reducing pore size for clearer, tighter, more radiant skin, restores skins PH balance, removes microscopic deposits of dirt, oils, and dead skin cells, reduces age spots and is grade A for reducing acne, blackheads and pimples. And it’s perfect for all skin types, which will make us all happy as a pig in mud.
You can buy at SuperChargedFood.com or to win one of five tubs of Supercharged mud, tell us why your skin would love this product.
There are just some things I don’t enjoy about being a Mum. I’ve often lamented I’m not a park Mum. I freely admit it – I freaking hate the park. I just don’t dig standing there watching kids play, whine, hurt themselves and then willingly go back for more the next day. What’s so fun about that?
I equally loathe getting down and playing with Lego or its big brother, Duplo. And I’m sorry, but I cannot feign even the slightest interest in imaginary role play. Ditto ball-sports.
But activities I do love sharing with my kids include going to the beach or the pool, reading books, playing board games and above all , baking. I really, really love baking. I’m talking sign me in and fire up the oven to 160 degrees for anything scone, cake, biscuit, icing or sprinkle related and let’s all drop it like it’s hot, my friend.
Having said this, baking with kids nowadays is a health minefield. What with ingredients including everything we are told to avoid at all costs for optimum wellbeing – think refined sugar, white flour, gluten, artificial colours and flavours – we’re talking pretty much serving up a mix of bakery treats that induce tantrums and all-nighters at best, cavities or diabetes at worst.
That’s is why we are loving Sugar free pioneer Carolyn Hartz. A pinch of Nigella meets a tablespoon of Sarah Wilson, her new book Sugar Free Baking allows you have your cake and eat it, too.
Carolyn was educating herself about sugar well before Sarah Wilson moved to Bondi and started drinking kale shakes after a pre-diabetic diagnosis over 28 years ago. Yet with even the healthiest of foodie bloggers succumbing to “hidden sugars” labelled as a healthy sugar alternative, Carolyn recognised the reality is that living a sugar-free life can harder than deciding which salad you want at About Life – ironically she craved, you guessed it, sugar. And so she penned “Sugar Free Baking” so your sweet tooth can be satisfied without sacrificing your kids, your own wellbeing or your thigh gap.
The recipes include such healthy (no, really!) treats as Chocolate Panna Cotta, Rich Chocolate Tart, Fig and Cashew Energy Balls, Marbled Bundt Cake and our all time favorite bakery treats – Butterfly Cupcakes.
The good news is the recipes are easy to make and all ingredients used you can easily find (without having to trek the Himalayas) in your local IGA. This book is no fuss and no sugar.
SUGAR FREE BAKING BY CAROLYN HARTZ CAN BE PURCHASED HERE: or for two lucky MotherDriven members we have a copy up for grabs.
